Remember when

I can't help myself....I look at these pictures of Nicholas and just want to squeeze him. I wish I could go back to those early days and tell myself that he will get less cranky, that breastfeeding will get easier, and to stop and stare at him just a few more times. It has only been 5 months and already it seems like time has flown by. Nicholas has grown and looks like a completely different baby. When did that happen? Sometimes when he is sleeping I look down at him and see that precious newborn baby face and hold him just a little longer than I need to before putting him back in his bed. When he smiles at me my heart melts and I am wondering how I am ever going to be able to tell him "no" or watch someone break his heart. I'll just have to steal the quiet moments right now and hold him close and tight and not worry about how fast time will go...he will always be my precious baby boy.

Matthew's son

I love this picture. To me Nicholas looks just like his daddy. When I had my second ultra-sound the first image to come up on the screen was the baby's profile. Remember we thought it was a girl, at least that is what the first ultra-sound tech told us. That profile looked exactly like Matt. I couldn't believe it. I am not sure how or why but it felt like I recognized this little baby, even though I hadn't seen (his) precious face. As the ultra sound progressed we found out the little baby was a boy! Images of a little Matt running around were floating in my head....what a wonderful scene. Nicholas my have my dark hair, big hands and feet, and a small head...but everything looks just like his daddy! Even if I am the only one who sees it!

Santa Claus

I took Nicholas to see Santa last week (yes I know I am a little behind with the blog) and he was a little angel! I dresses him up in his Santa outfit, I just couldn't resist! We went to the mall all decked out and ready to meet the big guy. Nicholas and I walked right up to Santa and said hello. Nicholas gave him a BIG smile and sat on his lap without so much as a blink. On the way home little man was worn out and fell asleep, after removing his own boots. I took the hat and coat off, after all we are in Florida. It was a great trip. I am looking forward to next year when he will be more excited about it, I hope!

Five months old

My little man is getting so big. He weighs between 17 and 17 and a half pounds and is somewhere between 27 and a half and 28 inches. We didn't have a Drs apt this months so I am relying on our scale and measuring abilities. He is happy and all smiles for the holidays. I love to look and his little body...all chubby and full of rolls. Isn't he the sweetest? I am sure he will KILL me, for this log, when he gets older :) I love you PB!

Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells

On December 4th Matt and I took Nicholas to the family Christmas party at church. First we sang carols to elderly people that aren't able to attend church, we drove to their homes and stood in the front yard belting out the songs, Nicholas was the youngest one to carol. When we got back to the church for pizza and tree trimming Matt took Nicholas to the gym to 'play' basketball before the activities began. Matt started dribbling the ball. I was on the other side of the gym (it is sectioned off between the cafeteria and gym) and heard a giggling little boy. I thought, Surely that can't be Nicholas. I walked into the gym to find ONLY Matt and Nicholas. Nicholas was laughing so hard he got the hiccups. It was so funny! Every time Matt would bounce, shoot, or hold the ball so Nicholas could see it, he went into a giggling frenzy! I wonder if this means he will be a good basketball player, hummmm.
The ornament we put on the tree is Forsythia, Mary's angel. It is a Hallmark keepsake, in honor of Nicholas' first Christmas. I really like what the angel's gift-wrapped box represents...her wishes for peace on earth and hopes for a season of joy. What a great way to remember his first Christmas.

Polo Man

I can't get enough of my Polo man. He got this outfit from friends when I was in MI in October. I couldn't wait to put it on him for church. He looks so grown up and preppie. He is starting to 'flirt' with me and the camera, making it difficult to get the smile while he is looking at me. Enjoy!

I Love MY Auntie

It is so sweet to watch my sister with Nicholas. Christie is so loving and funny. The last time she was here (August, MRSA 2005) it was a bit crazy with both of us in the hospital. This time, although busy, was more relaxing. When we put the tree up Nicholas was the first to check it out with Auntie's help. He likes to be cheek to cheek with his Auntie. And after a fun filled day there is nothing like falling asleep in the arms of his angel, I mean his Auntie.

I Can Touch My TOES

He started 'touching' toes the first week of November. I can put him on the floor and he entertains himself for hours! Little Man is getting so big.
At my shower in MI our neighbor, Marti, came up to me and told me that she always thought is ways so sweet that I would play with my toes. Her little boy, Sean 2 months younger than me, never played with with his toes. She told me she thought is was maybe just girls that played with their toes. But her grandson played with is toes and she just loved it. That was the first thing I thought of when Nicholas reached for those toes and started 'chewing' on them. I am so amazed at how quickly he grows and changes. Everyday is new and exciting. Am I a first time Mom or what?

Walking in a Winter Wonderland

We decorated for Christmas when my family was here for Thanksgiving. My sister is SO talented in the 'homemaking' department. She really helped give me ideas and make our home look great. It was so good to have my family, including "Nana" (Nicholas' great-grandma) here too. We ate turkey and celebrated family. Of course here in Florida it is still warm enough to take a walk after dark and enjoy the lights of the season.
